Vigan-Laoag-Pagudpud 2009 II
A continuation of Vigan-Laoag-Pagudpud 2009 I,
So, at around 7 or 8 AM, we have reached Vigan, Capital of Ilocos Sur.
There are a lot of places that you can visit in Vigan, and I hope I was able to give you a glimpse of them through this pictures.
First off, we strolled around. Truly, it is impossible to miss the park (sorry, i forgot the name) infront of both the Municipal Hall and the Cathedral. We had breakfast Geizelle’s, very friendly and cheap. =) If it’s your first time going to Vigan, this place shouldn’t be a difficult one to find-Trike drivers know where it is. Busog and all, we walked from Gizelle’s back to the Cathedral, to get some Calesa for the tour, while admiring the very clean and polished roads of Vigan.
**Trike from the park to Gizelle’s = P10/person.
**Calesa= P150 per hour.
As soon as we get our calesas, we went to our first stop, the St. Augustine’s Church Belfry. Now, I don’t recall any history but just the sight of it, sitting on top of a hill (or an elevated landscape of some sort..) is quite a scenery. Of course, we counquered it with all our cam-whoring.! =)
The next stop is the Pinagburnayan, the pottery. Lucky us, we made friends with the owner, who is a National Artist himself, Fidel Go. We had a tour of the ‘factory’, by of the owner himself. He also asked one of his helpers to do a quick demo of jar-making. Another cam-whoring experience! =) This part of the tour is absolutely free, but you would want to buy from the souvenir shops outside. Tourism is their way of living, so help them out. =)
The famous Calle Crisostomo was our next stop. Need I say more?
‘Need I say more’ is an understatement. =)
The next stop is a former Governor’s place. Quite political, eh? Not really, we went to Baluarte. Damn! I wanna live there. The tigers and the rest of the animals are just sooo lovely. Well, maybe not the tigers. hahaha!
See what I mean?
The last leg of the Vigan tour is Padre Burgos’ closet, este, house! =) (GOMBURZA, anyone?)
Hmm.. After the tour, we went straight to the bus station (Partas) to be on our way to Pagudpud via Laoag.
