Of Old Friends and Dreams.

doctorLast night was a blast. Just before I end my shift at work, I bumped into an old friend. Wyben. He is a classmate from Highschool and shocked as I am, he is on his way to being a doctor. A long way though as he is just starting Med School.  I asked him what made him pursue Medicine. He simply said – Read the Yearbook. Damn. I was embarrassed. Yes, I was embarrassed. Here is a man pursuing his dream, and man, you can never be ideal nor naive to not give him credits for it. To Wyben, all the best and world. =)

Later, another classmate signed in, Harris. I knew it would be perfect to discuss the reunion with him. My first attempt of discussing the event with him was, I think, futile. He was busy then, as i was. Now seemed to be the time. I showed him this blogsite, as I always show it around (haha!), and he got interested in doing his own. After finding his way on configuration and start-up stuff, here is his blogsite:

Too good for a first blog. =)

Anyway, he is actually helping in the reunion. Thank God! Had I known a blog is all it takes, I would have introduced this sooned. hahaha.. :)

You Found Me – The Fray

I have been dying share my thoughts on this song for a long time now. First heard it on the radio, the DJ actually said this song is so good,  might even land on the top of the charts. I didn’t if his predictions were right.

So here goes my simple thought: Have we really found us?

YOU FOUND ME

by: The Fray

I found God on the corner of 1st and Amistad
Where the West was all but won
All alone, smoking his last cigarette
I said, “Where’ve you been?” He said, “Ask anything.”

Where were you, when everything was falling apart.
All my days were spent by the telephone that never rang
And all I needed was a call that never came
To the corner of 1st and Amistad

Lost and insecure, you found me, you found me
Lying on the floor, surrounded, surrounded
Why’d you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late, you found me, you found me.

But in the end everyone ends up alone
Losing her, the only one who’s ever known
Who I am, who I’m not and who I wanna to be
No way to know how long she will be next to me

Lost and insecure, you found me, you found me
Lying on the floor, surrounded, surrounded
Why’d you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late, you found me, you found me.

The early morning, the city breaks
And I’ve been calling for years and years and years
And you never left me no messages
You never sent me no letters
You got some kind of nerve taking all I want

Lost and insecure, you found me, you found me
Lying on the floor, Where were you? Where were you?

Lost and insecure, you found me, you found me
Lying on the floor, surrounded, surrounded
Why’d you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late, you found me, you found me.

Why’d you have to wait, to find me, to find me?

Ants and Dragonslayers.

Zhuangzi, the famous Chinese writer, tells the story of Zhu Pingman, who went in search of a teacher in order to learn the best way to slay dragons.

The teacher trained Pingman for ten whole years, until he had honed to perfection the most sophisticated dragon-slaying techniques.

Pingman spent the rest of his life looking for dragons in order show off his skills: to his great disappointment, he never found a single dragon.

The writer of the story comments: ‘We all prepare ourselves to slay dragons, but end up instead being devoured by the ants of the details that we never bothered to look at.’

The movie, which is set to open May 2009, has made open my own Dan Brown collection. And yes, After two long days of doing nothing in the office (I am not complaining!), I finally have finished an entertaining novel.

I was introduced to the book in 2006 because of the wide talks on Da Vinci Code. I am then a Junior college student of Silliman in Dumaguete City – a city of religions and faiths and churches. The movie even became more popular because of the Roman Catholic’s public announcement that it would boycott the movie – which stirred so much interest in me. What is it that they despised so much, I asked.

The book (Angels..) looked as if it has been previously opened and  enjoyed. However, with all efforts, I cannot bring out a single memory in recall of my experience with the book. Nothing. Not even a line. Nothing. Even more curious now, I opened the book.

The first chapters did its wonders. It excited me and made me want more. I was progressing through the book and man, I am reading like the sun will not shine tomorrow. Without warning, memories hit me. Strange, I remember situations while I first read the book but I dont remember anything from the book.

Hmm. Whatever it is, Angels and Demons will be a fascinating and entertaining movie this May.

The Rain and The Man.

It’s a rainy Wednesday, and I am loving every minute of this day. On my way to the office, which by the way is a 2-hour trip, i tuned in to the radio. I was hoping the jocks are playinga perfect roadtrip song and, God I love you, they were playing this song.

The Man Who Can’t Be Moved

by The Script

Going back to the corner where I first saw you
Gonna camp in my sleeping bag, I’m not gonna move
Got some words on cardboard, got your picture in my hand
Saying if you see this girl can you tell her where I am

Some try to hand me money, they don’t understand
I’m not broke I’m just a broken hearted man
I know it makes no sense, but what else can I do
How can I move on when I’ve been in love with you

‘Cause if one day you wake up and find that you’re missing me
And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I could be
Thinking maybe you’ll come back here to the place that we’d meet
And you’d see me waiting for you on the corner of the street

So I’m not moving
I’m not moving

Policeman says son you can’t stay here
I said there’s someone I’m waiting for if it’s a day, a month, a year
Gotta stand my ground even if it rains or snows
If she changes her mind this is the first place she will go

‘Cause if one day you wake up and find that you’re missing me
And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I could be
Thinking maybe you’ll come back here to the place that we’d meet
And you see me waiting for you on the corner of the street

So I’m not moving
I’m not moving
I’m not moving
I’m not moving

man_in_rain

People talk about the guy
Who’s waiting on a girl, oh whoa
There are no holes in his shoes
But a big hole in his world

Maybe I’ll get famous as the man who can’t be moved
And maybe you won’t mean to but you’ll see me on the news
And you’ll come running to the corner
‘Cause you’ll know it’s just for you

I’m the man who can’t be moved
I’m the man who can’t be moved

‘Cause if one day you wake up and find that you’re missing me
And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I could be
Thinking maybe you’ll come back here to the place that we meet
Oh, you see me waiting for you on a corner of the street

So I’m not moving
(‘Cause if one day you wake up, find that you’re missing me)
I’m not moving
(And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I could be)
I’m not moving
(Thinking maybe you’ll come back here to the place that we’d meet)
I’m not moving
(Oh, you see me waiting for you on a corner of the street)

Going back to the corner where I first saw you
Gonna camp in my sleeping bag, I’m not gonna move

Perfect song for a mending heart, don’t you think? Or not. Whatever.. I have moved on but I’m definitely not moving..

Paula says if this was bowling – it was a strike – he’s staying!

Simon says he didn’t like that performance – it came over a bit desperate – and he didn’t think the vocals were great.

The other judges disagree.

Kara liked the song choice – it sounded like it could be on the radio!

Paula says he looks fantastic – and real men know how to wear pink!

Simon Cowell completely disagrees – it was mediocre at best – a horrible version of the song – and his worst performance by a mile!
